Why Study Digital Disruption in Property: PropTech?

Traditionally resistant to innovation, the property and real estate sectors are now undergoing massive digital disruption, giving rise to an ecosystem of companies that offer new tech-enabled products, services and business models. COVID-19 - which presents new challenges such as executing transactions and operating properties remotely, and the rise of remote work - which affects where people choose to live and how commercial office space is managed, are just two of the factors accelerating this disruption. That’s why the PropTech - or property technology - market, which is currently estimated at $521.7 billion, has a projected 8.6% CAGR between 2020 and 2025. Comprising everything from Big Data, AI and machine learning to the blockchain, virtual and augmented reality and the Internet of Things, PropTech promises to improve the ways we buy, rent, sell, design, construct and manage residential and commercial property.

This six-week online programme from the world’s top-ranked university — which is home to the globally recognised Oxford Future of Real Estate Initiative, built to research and predict the changes faced by the industry over the next decade — empowers participants to take full advantage of new technologies that are rapidly transforming the real estate industry. Considering the fact that real estate is the world’s largest asset class, the market opportunity for PropTech is immense. The programme is designed to help entrepreneurs and corporate innovators identify and seize tech-enabled opportunities while managing risks in a sector that is ripe for exponentially more innovation and disruption.

Is This Programme Right for You?

The programme is designed for entrepreneurial- and innovation-minded stakeholders in the fast-growing PropTech ecosystem, be they in commercial real estate (developers, owners, investors and those who facilitate transactions), residential real estate (landlords, property managers, mortgage lenders, brokers and real estate agents) or construction.

Digital experts interested in learning how to harness the power of AI, blockchain and other technologies to transform the property sector, business leaders looking to manage risks associated with commercial real estate disruption and corporate innovators aiming to take advantage of the changing marketplace also stand to benefit greatly from the programme.
