Why Study Succeeding in Tech: Business Toolkit for Women Innovators?

Women in tech face significant challenges when starting their own companies: conscious and unconscious biases, structural barriers and organizational cultures of a traditionally male-dominated industry far short of gender equality. Women are discriminated against when seeking loans and investments, resulting in women-founded tech startups receiving less than 3% of all venture capital. These conditions are the main reason why women create only 10% of innovative tech startups, make up just 26% of the tech workforce and leave tech companies at more than twice the rate of men.

This course from MIT will give you the tools to overcome these barriers. You’ll learn how to develop strategies for successful fundraising for your tech startup and build a network of women role models to help you lead it to success. Research shows that women excel in most leadership skills compared to men, but still comprise only 17% of corporate board seats and 11% of senior leadership positions. This course seeks to change that – to show how to get more women on the boards of banks and VC firms, to mobilize funding for women tech entrepreneurs and to close the gender gap.
