David Shrier is an AI futurist, academic, prolific author, and globally recognized expert on technology-driven innovation. Shrier holds an appointment as Professor of Practice, AI and Innovation at Imperial College London. He was previously Associate Fellow at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, a lecturer at the MIT Media Lab, and an MIT New Ventures Officer.

As CEO and co-founder at Esme Learning, an AI-powered digital learning startup, Shrier is helping usher in a new era of online education. Shrier spends considerable time translating academic theory into business practice, having co-founded four AI-enabled spinouts from MIT and advised multiple ‘unicorn’ technology companies on new business opportunities. David serves on the board of an NYSE-listed SPAC, ADEX and is non-executive director for Mode Global, a crypto wallet provider.

Shrier has published seven books in the last seven years, including most recently Global Fintech (MIT Press, 2022) and Augmenting Your Career: How to Win at Work in the Age of AI (Little, Brown 2021).
